Burana Tower
Minaret of X – XI centuries, is located 12 km South-West of Tokmok, along the road in the picturesque gorge of the Kyrgyz range. This monumental religious building belongs to the period of domination of the Qarakhanid tribes, who have 900 years ago the greater part of Central Asia. It is built of brick and juniper logs. On an octagonal stone base is circular in cross-section, tapering up the trunk, covered belts ornamental masonry. On the South side at a height of 5 m is the doorway, which begins a spiral staircase leading to a viewing platform. The tower height is 21 m in diameter and 9 meters of Its previous height was probably a 44 – 48 m surrounding the tower site, the excavations found the remains of three mausoleums and dilapidated accommodations XI – XII centuries Probably Buran was vertical dominance of the ancient city of Burana Tower, the Northern capital of the Turkic state of Karakhanids.
